The peons at Domain Direct (the company that hosts my DNS) are being... well... peons. Their UI is futzed and it won't let me set up new pookzilla.net/.com subdomains. I get the exact same error from every computer in and out of this office that I've tried it on and they claim it doesn't exist or that it's a problem with vague, ethereal things called 'settings' which they can't explain. Motherfuckers.

K and I watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone last night. What a great movie! I havn't felt that way about a movie since Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory... kind of a bewildered feeling. I loved it to death. Watching it has made me want to read the books.
I had a really depressing dream last night. I was at this convention or something similar, surrounded by people I knew in highschool. In general people were being mean to each other for no reason whatsoever. There was this one girl that everyone was terrified of - she was monsterous. Her body was normal but her head was not. The skin on it was green and scaly and she had no hair. She had one glowing yellow eye in the center of her forhead and she was missing a visible mouth. In its place were short pulsating tentacles. In this dream people weren't running screaming from her or anything that drastic - they were just hushing up and backing away from her, trying to avoid her as best as they could. I could see it made her feel terrible. I tried to be friends with her, but even I was too grossed out by her appearance to give her a real chance... she was very nice and sweet, but her visage was too much for me to handle. I woke up feeling terribly guilty about it.

Angel-Devil legband, stage I: complete.
It looks like this with some minor tweaks. She made the wings more like the wings on my back (ie: more distinct feathering) and removed the winkie from the demon - I don't really want penii permanently etched on my skin. :) There are 3 pairs in total. Each angel/demon is about 3" by 3" if memory serves me well.
It only took 3 hours for the linework plus another 2 for us all to shoot the poop and generally goof around. I go back in a month or so for the colour, which should go quickly. It's relativly simple and repetitive. It looks great so far! I was concerned the back of the leg (just above the knee) would be unbearably painful, but it turned out to be ok. My leg kept jumping involuntarily though at certain spots - I think I danced for the first time while laying on the flat of my back.
I also picked up the new Warhammer 40K Necron Codex. I'm miffed. It's a well constructed book (especially compared to the old pamphlet style Codices) , but Games Workshop seems to be using the C'tan to explain everything that has thusfar remained unexplained in the 40K mythos. I really don't approve of that... they just aren't that cool. :)

I hate estate agents, especially ours, and today I could a small but satisfying piece of revenge. We wanted to move out when our contracts were up at work (end of June) but we had to move out on a rent day (23rd of the month) and unfortunately we only have them 8 weeks notice and not the 2 months they wanted so technically we couldn't move out on the 23rd June which would have been ideal. The estate agents said we might be able to move out on the 23rd June and not the 23rd July if they found someone to fill the house.
On Friday they phoned us up and said they'd found someone but they were to move in on the 22nd June (meaning we would have to move out the weekend before) and if we didn't agree they threatened us with having to move out a month later and therefore having to pay another month's rent.
Well, both myself and my flatmate were offered contract extensions so we phoned up the the estate agents and called their bluff. We told them we couldn't agree to moving out over a week before we wanted to move out (we would have had to pay the £200 in rent for the week we weren't there, the bastards) and told them we'd move out on the 23rd July as they'd told us we would have to. He was quite shocked and said we might be able to move out on the 23rd June as we wished but we told him that we'd already made arrangements for moving out on the 23rd July. He wasn't too happy as it meant a lot more work for him which in turn made me very happy. :D
Moral of the story: Don't turn up at 9:30am on a weekend at someone's house unannouced, you will not be popular. :P posted by pookzilla at 1:43 PM - 0 comments

I really need to stop sleeping like I'm in a rotisserie. I pulled a muscle in my neck while in my sleep yesterday. I can't turn my head to the left more than a few degrees and trying to do so brings about such exquisite agony.
I saw Spider-Man over the weekend. It was great! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Movies based on comics usally suck SO bad...this one ranks right up there with Blade in my books.
I started to mentally sketch out a story idea that I've had floating around in my head for some time now. I may do some writing - as a child I used to write quite a bit. I need to expand my creative horizons in every way possible. I must escape from this drone-like existance! For those of you that care - it's about the exploits of a Inquisitor acolyte who's trying to prove herself to her hedonistic master. posted by pookzilla at 9:35 AM - 0 comments

Woot! I just finished Resident Evil! I apparently screwed up earlier on and I didn't get the cool endings, so I'm going to go to one of my older saves and redo the ending. Now that I know what to do it shouldn't take long to do the last section again. Overall I really (REALLY) enjoyed this game. STUNNING graphics, decent story and game-play/control I enjoy (yes, I'm one of those freaks that like RE style controls Aaron :P). My biggest beefs were:a) cruddy dialog
b) inventory management (which is the SHITS - I hear it's been revamped for the upcoming Resident Evil 0)
c) lack of a real ending (it just kind of... stops. After 13 hours of gameplay I expected a bit of theatre)
I plan on playing it at least once more with the other character. I think it has quite a bit of replay value left in it. I'm really looking forward to RE0 which will be released this year. I saw some E3 footage earlier on today and it looks even prettier than RE. It comes out on October 31st... I guess I'll have to get Eternal Darkness to tide me over until then! posted by pookzilla at 8:12 PM - 0 comments

It's Thursday so I thought it was about time I said what I did last weekend...
Andrew came round for some hot XXX LAN gaming action. He said he'd be round about noon and I phoned him about 12:30pm to find he was in bed asleep. Slacker. When he eventually turned up we (Andrew, my flatmate David and myself) played Serious Sam 2 co-op. The new weapons are very fun but the end of game boss was dissapointing and even over a LAN there were problems sending the required amount of data. Still enjoyable enough for the 4 hours it took to complete. We then went down our 'local'. I haven't been down there in ages and David has never been there before. It's a pretty decent place. OK music (usual indie-type stuff), good atmosphere and a general lack of the nobber/yobs you get in the other Guildford pubs. We had a few drinks, had some absinthe, talked bullshit and then went home. Andrew had just bought Big Trouble in Little China so we watched that. As I said in my drunken blog, the 'midnight listening' feature on Pioneer receivers really is special. It was quite late so we had it at a resonable volume level and with the Midnight Listening mode on all the detail of the 5.1 track was still very audible. Oh, and Andrew has a crush on Kurt Russel or something. He got very upset when I said Kurt Russel has a mullet. After that we went to bed.
Next day we played our favourite; Operation Flashpoint. We've been trying to complete one of the co-op missions for about 6 months now (Desert Ambush, if you know the game). AND SUNDAY WE ACTUALLY COMPLETED IT!! Not only did we complete it, we totallyed raped it. None of us got shot and it almost seemed a little too easy. Following our success I officially retired from playing Operation Flashpoint, my life is now complete. After that we dicked about for a few hours and Burns headed home. The end. :P posted by pookzilla at 8:04 AM - 0 comments

I started today off with such energy. I got a bucketload of work done in the span of 2.5 hours and now I sit here contemplating my navel. I know there is stuff I should be doing, but I just can't get the oomph to get them started. Hell, I even ICQed one of the other Pookzillas just for the distraction. That didn't work because she didn't respond, but the gesture itself should show how unproductive I am now! I should talk to my shrink about this. I should also talk to him about my desire to kill, maim, burn and pillage. I somehow doubt that is a healthy ambition (unless my name was Ghenghis).

Today I feel scary.
This is an engineered effect.
For some reason I wanted to feel intimidating today. It happens every so often. I usually resent feeling intimidating/scary, but there are days when I really embrace it. Today is most definitly one of those days - I want children to CRY when they see me. Sadly, my wardrobe doesn't really allow me to achieve full Frankenstein fear levels. I really need to fix that at some point. My biggest 'asset' when it comes to fear is my height. I'm pretty tall. Mix in a pair of 4" shoes and I'm a pro basketball player... mix in a long black hooded sweater and I'm a righteous thug. Some day I'll fetch myself a black leather trenchcoat and spikes for my face... but in the mean time this will have to do.

My tattoo appointment scheduled for today was rebooked for next Tuesday - my tattoo artist is recovering from some minor surgery and didn't want to go all gimpy on me in the middle of a large piece. It actually works out for the best for the both of us as I have a doctors appointment next Tuesday. I can take the day off and actually use all of it.I picked up the new Rush disc (Vapor Trails) over the weekend. After half a listen it seems rather mediocre and bland- but all of their recent albums have come off that way to me initially. I'm hoping it'll grow on me as much as Test For Echo did. I really miss instrumentals on their albums - they were always superior. The three of them are AMAZING musicians, and they really showed it off on their instrumentals. posted by pookzilla at 7:49 AM - 0 comments

I did a butterfly tattoo design for K. She plans on using this on her chest. Mmmm... coloured bewbies. This was done using The Gimp. There were some paths used to create the initial arcs, but they were beefed up by hand (which, if you're using a laptop touch pad, is an accomplishment in and of itself). I tried to make it look like stained glass. The dropshadow with a bit of colour really helps in highlighting that I think.I should invest in a penmouse. It would make this SO much easier. I wonder how much a good penmouse costs... posted by pookzilla at 4:05 PM - 0 comments

K and I did our (now) traditional Saturday pho run. I really missed it when I was gone last week. I'm such a creature of habit. I was thinking about that very quality today in fact. We have such a ritual when it comes to Saturday pho. We leave at roughly the same time. We always order the same thing. I always finish mine first after which I go to rinse my mouth out. When I return K has finished hers. It is so predictable. I hear habit is a bad thing, but I really love it sometimes. It's sooo comfortable.K went and had her lip pierced after we left the pho joint. It looks great on her - perfectly placed. It's a rich green like the rest of her jewelery. She's so colour co-ordinated. :) I'm sure she will soon have pics up on her website that will show it off.
I asked for and was given Tuesday off of work. I'm going in for a new tattoo. I'm having a band of angels and demons done around my upper thigh like a garter. The artwork comes from a an M.C. Escher piece called Symmetry #45. I'm quite excited about it. I may get the same piece on the other leg, or perhaps another Escher piece. There are a lot of his symetric pieces that I'd really like to have inked on various places.
I spent much of my free time in California drawing tattoos. I managed to do some small pieces that I don't mind, but I didn't manage to do anything I'd actually want for MYSELF. I'm going to ask Sara (the girl who's done most of my tattoos) to help me out with designs for my sleeves - I want to start those after my wings are finished (or close to it at least - I can only take work on my back for a few hours at a time) and I really trust her judgement and opinion. She has steered me well so far. :) posted by pookzilla at 5:47 PM - 0 comments

I've set up a league called "Goffs School League" but I don't see any way you can actually join it (yet). So pick your team and I'll let you know when everything is working with their website.
Anyway, join and read up on the game here. Good luck, gentlemen. posted by pookzilla at 12:49 PM - 0 comments

I am so pissed off right now.I fucking hate estate agents. Always have, always will. My contract is up at work in 6 weeks and I'm going back to uni. No job = no way I can afford my current flat. Which is a shame because it's absolutely gorgeous. 2 minutes walk from town, 1 minutes walk to a main line station into London, lovely neighbourhood and unbeatable veiws (I intend to take some photos before I leave). Anyway. :P
So the estate agents phone us up Thursday saying they want to show some people round at 10:30am on Saturday (today). It's a little early in my books but we want this whole "people coming round our house whenever they feel like" business over with as quickly as possible and we decided it wasn't really a good idea to say no to the people who've got £1250 of our money as deposit. I set my alarm for 9:30am (*grumble*) and go to bed last night. I wake up at 9:30am as planned only to hear our doorbell go. Half asleep it doesn't click but then the doorbell goes again and I realise it must be the estate agents. I quickly grab some clothes, make my bed and try to flatten my bed hair with my hand before my flatmate (who was in the bath at the time) lets them in. Mission accomplished. Just.
How fucking dare they turn up an hour fucking early? Fucking cunts. If this happens again I swear I'll kill them.

Our politicans would never have the balls to do or say something like this for fear of angering the $40billion Microsoft ape. posted by pookzilla at 3:20 PM - 0 commentsThat weekend was too short... by about 7 days. Bluh. I managed to get my hair cut and dyed (it looks OK for once...) and picked up some Warmaster mags I was missing along with some supplies for my trip. I also managed to get pretty far into RE. I had to look at a walkthrough for help once, but it turns out I really shouldn't have needed to. There's a small bug in the game where you can't get up onto a platform unless you're a PRECISE distance away from it. I was mucking about trying to get onto it but was too close. The FAQ let me know I was trying to do the right thing, but I was just doing it badly. :P I'm almost ready to switch discs I think... I'm interested to see how THAT's accomplished...
I'm still all piss and onions... such a sour mood. Oi. :P

Ok. new song of the day to reflect the conversations taken place in the last hour:Headed for eternity and destined for nothing
The future isn't difficult to see
It's easy to confuse grand design with life's repercussions
Lament not your vanquished fantasy
It's only destiny
Bad Religion, Destined for Nothing.

The guys from work took me to Hooters today. It, according to its motto, is "Delightfully tacky." I'll just call it tacky. The wings were OK, but too big... I doubt I'll be going back. The general feeling of inadequacy really took away my appitite anyway. :)

I find myself liking Complicated by Avril Lavigne. This type of music usually pisses me off and yet I find myself humming the song to myself all the time. ARGH!
I've gotten a bit further in Resident Evil. I dont know if it gets easier after the first two zombies or not, but I'm doing much better. I still continue to marvel at the graphics... blades of grass move independently of one another, cockroaches scurry on the floor, flies buzz over rotten meat, blood splatters on surfaces and yet the texture of the surface remains visible.... it's just SO PRETTY!
I'm going to go get my hair cut/dyed/highlighted/mangled tomorrow. I wish I had the nads to do something as drastic as K did to hers, but I'm paranoid about my hair - I'm terrified of looking worse than I already do. :) posted by pookzilla at 8:45 AM - 0 comments

Ian has started his own blog... rotten bastard wouldn't join mine! Nooooooooooo of course not! :) posted by pookzilla at 3:38 PM - 0 commentsI picked up Resident Evil for the Gamecube yesterday. The game is STUNNING. Absolutely gorgeous... some of the lighting effects had my jaw dropping. It's hands down the prettiest game I've ever seen on any platform. Having said that I feel I must point out that it is FUCKING HARD! Even on easy I was killed multiple times by the first/second zombie I encountered. Even if you manage to take them down they'll get back up eventually, unless you manage a headshot and blow it clean off their shoulders. This is quite difficult to do but very satisfying if you manage to do it! A lot of people gripe about the controls in the RE series, but I don't have a problem with them. For those of you that don't know, you move forward in RE by pushing up and you turn by pushing left or right. These controls remain constant regardless of your camera angle. I think they actually suit the style of game completely - you don't want to be running down a hall away from a zombie, have the camera angle shift, and then start running backwards because you had forgotten to adjust what direction you were pressing on the control pad. I guess I'm biased though - I've been hooked on this control style ever since the original Alone in the Dark, and have become quite adept at using it.
Now... my dream. *ahem* For some reason I was being chased by zombies in my dream. In an airport. Trying to run to a plane I needed to catch. <sarcasm>I have no idea where these ideas came from.</sarcasm> posted by pookzilla at 8:02 AM - 0 comments

This little blog has changed name and it's all my fault.I thought the old name was wank and came up with this new title.

I'm listening to the Dropkick Murphys and wishing I was drunk. Funny how one always leads to the other. Those guys always make me wish I was shitfaced...
I slept like poop last night... a few hours at most. I woke up in the wee hours of the morning and turned on the TV so that I'd have something to do other than toss and turn. You'd be surprised how many Matlock episodes are on during the night. If I set my mind to it, I could watch 5 hours of Matlock a day. That's kind of scary. I wager that I could make a career out of watching mystery show reruns... if someone would pay me for it. Any takers?
