Two and a half more hours on my arm results in this very blurry picture:

I bought a Sony DCR-HC42 tonight. So far I have to say I'm appalled at the documentation. Either I need a Firewire (i.Link) cable to stream video from DV tapes or it isn't possible at all on a Mac. A FAQ I've found seems to indicate the former but the quick start guide indicated the later. Ugh. I guess I'll be heading back tomorrow to sort this out. Oh technology... you always let me down. posted by pookzilla at 10:41 PM - 0 commentsOkay, I've played Geist for another hour and a half. It's a one trick pony that deserves to go back to the used bin that I found it in. Darkwatch, here I come.

I bought Land of the Dead on DVD yesterday. I enjoyed it in the theater and since I own every other Romero zombie movie I felt obliged to fill out the collection. When I bought it I wasn't aware that it was a directors cut. The directors cut is... considerably more gory. So far there's been only one new scene that I've noticed but other zombie scenes have been augmented with additional feeding footage. Extremely graphic feeding footage. Great for a Sunday morning breakfast viewing! posted by pookzilla at 11:11 AM - 1 commentFriday, October 21, 2005
I decided to go with Geist. As much as I love the idea of vampire cowboys the idea of ghosts is just a bit more appealing. I've played it for about 30 minutes so far and I must confess it's not blowing my skirt up. It feels very unpolished. Character movements are wooden, the controls are awkward and feel slow, and the graphics are nothing special. Most importantly however, it just doesn't feel like I'm a ghost. Yah, I can possess things, but not many things. I can possess people, but so far they've only been useful for opening doors and shooting other people. The game feels like a badly executed first person shooter with the ghost gimmick tacked on.I'll give it a bit more time. I was in a sour mood when I played it and I feel like I might not have given it a proper chance to woo me. I love ghost stories. I love ghost stories from the ghosts perspective. I WANT to like this game. posted by pookzilla at 7:56 PM - 0 comments

I got some good news today at work so I want to spoil myself with a new game. Do I go with Geist or Darkwatch? posted by pookzilla at 5:55 PM - 3 commentsThursday, October 13, 2005
The first color went into my forearm yesterday. It hurt a lot. Excuse the poor photo, I only have access to my iSight at the moment.

I haven't seen a sunset this beautiful outside of Nova Scotia. My camera can't do it justice.

I've seen one and a half episodes of the new show Supernatural. In each of them they played old RUSH tunes. In the first it was Fly By Night. In todays it was Working Man. I approve. It's a real shame the show sucks as bad as it does.

I picked up Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow on the way home from work. I should mention that this was my third attempt at finding it - it's been out of stock for the past few days. Needless to say I've been anticipating this game for a very long time. it was well worth the wait. I adore the Metroidvania style and the game looks beautiful on the DS. The dual screen is perfect - you get to have a map of the castle on screen at the same time. While the use of the touch screen is a bit of a stretch, it doesn't feel too odd.In other news, we played Halo 1 at work for the first time in ages yesterday. That game is SO much better than the sequel. We went back to Halo 2 today with the goal of emulating the game types we loved in Halo 1 and it just isn't the same. You can't recreate the experience. Wether it's the overly cluttered HUD, the friend indicators that you can't remove, or the hill markers I can't say. It's just... not fun. It's always a matter of hunting down the right weapon. In Halo 1 you didn't really have to worry about this - you often started with the best weapon so you could concentrate on the goal of the game. Blah. Halo 2 be damned. Give me the original. Hell, give me the original and a single map - Hang'm High - over Halo 2 and all the maps any day. posted by pookzilla at 7:11 PM - 8 comments

I started my left forearm yesterday. I'm having a really hard time taking a photo of it - here's the best I have so far. There's more on the back but I can't get that on my own.
