I've been struggling to replicate my mothers shortbread recipe for about 5 years now. Only recently have I seen any measure of success, however. Despite the fact that I think I've reproduced the tastiness of her cookies I simply don't enjoy them as much. I think I really enjoy getting cookies from my mother because it's something she can still do for me. I don't have a lot of contact with my parents and part of me still wants to feel like a kid in some way. What's more kidlike than enjoying your moms cookies?
