Wordpress 2.5 is up and running and I have picked a template I like quite a bit. All I need to do is get some graphics to personalize it.

Geocache is Go!
April 22nd, 2008 · 2 Comments
Our first Geocache - GC1bF79 - is up and running. It went live by noon or so and immediately after it did I noticed a problem with the instructions. I had it fixed in about 5 minutes but apparently by that time some people had already gotten the originals and did their calculations based on them. The first to find happened sometime after 4pm today and their prize was an Eclipse branded USB stick graceously donated by Paul Webster.
In other news I think I’ll be doing the upgrade to Wordpress 2.5 this evening. A new theme may also be in the works - I really don’t like the one I have now style wise or construction wise. There are a lot of oddities deep in its bowels and I suspect it may be the root cause of some weird 404 issues I’ve been getting.

Upgrade: Done
January 3rd, 2008 · No Comments
My first attempt at upgrading Wordpress has gone off without a hitch. I installed 2.3.2 after a quick backup of all DBs and content. It was only a minor upgrade, mind you, but I remain (naively) optimistic that the next one will be as easy.

Wordpress

I wish I had switched to Wordpress ages ago - God knows Aaron has been extolling it’s virtues for years now. I feel like such a sucker (nay, a Luddite) for sticking with Blogger for so long.

Moving On
November 11th, 2007 · No Comments
After much stressing and fussing with Blogger I decided to make the switch to Wordpress. I investigated all of the methods for moving my old blogger content over to Wordpress but in the end I figured a) it’s a lot of effort when you dont publish to Blogspot and b) I felt like a clean break. I feel like I’ve changed enough over the past few years to put the old blog to bed entirely. I’ll leave the archives in place but all of the new stuff will be showing up here.
I’ve done some basic effort towards making a template that’s all my own but I’m not satisfied with the result at all. I don’t feel particularly monochrome at the moment and yet everything I tried ended up being black and grey. Hopefully I’ll find some time in the near future to do something that’s a bit more “me.”
